Polyurea Primer: Fast-Curing Pure Polyurea Primer for Concrete
Polyurea Primer is a fast-curing, cold-applied two-component pure polyurea primer for concrete and other rigid, porous, dry substrates.
- Product: Polyurea Primer
- Application: primer for waterproofing membranes
- Mix: A=100 : B=10 by weight / A=100 : B=10.5 by volume
- Consumption: 300–400 g/m²
01 · Uses
What a pure polyurea primer for concrete does
- Adhesion layer on rigid, porous and dry substrates.
- Sealer and consolidator for concrete and cement before polyurethane or polyurea waterproofing membranes.
Moisture and overcoat timing decide whether a primer works – see dew point, residual moisture and overcoat interval. For flexible substrates, use Polyurea Primer Flex.
02 · Application
Substrate requirements and mixing
The substrate needs a cohesion of at least 1.5 MPa and compressive strength of at least 25 MPa. It must be completely free of water and water vapour, with moisture below 4%, and clean of oil, grease, cured product and anything that could hinder adhesion. On fresh concrete or mortar, wait at least 21 days; if moisture is suspected, use a suitable primer for damp substrates.
Stir component A mechanically at low speed for about 2 minutes to avoid air intake, pour in component B and mix the same way for 2 minutes, then transfer to a larger container to make sure nothing is left unmixed. A surface skin can form in the container on contact with air; remove it and carry on.

04 · Performance
Polyurea Primer performance
It cures to a hard film of 70D, with a tensile stress of 37 MPa, maximum elongation of 53% and adhesion to concrete above 5 N/mm² (EN 13892-8), and remains thermally stable up to 80 °C.
Curing time depends strongly on conditions: the higher the temperature and humidity, the faster it cures and the shorter the working time. It is aromatic, so it yellows in sunlight without any loss of mechanical properties.
