Impermax Polyurea H Flex: Hot-Spray Polyurea for Bridge Decks and Roofs

Impermax Polyurea H Flex is a flexible two-component membrane – a hot-spray polyurea for bridge decks, roofs and liners – applied with plural-component equipment, with an outstanding crack-bridging capacity and a European Technical Assessment for bridge-deck waterproofing.

01 · Uses

Uses of a hot-spray polyurea for bridge decks, roofs and liners

  • Waterproofing of concrete structures and bridge decks.
  • Roof waterproofing, with the option to complete the system with a UV-resistant topcoat.
  • Containment liners for ponds, secondary containment tanks, reservoirs, landfills, tunnels, channels and dam repair.

02 · Application

Application and key properties

Liners made with Impermax Polyurea H Flex and selected geotextiles reach a static puncture resistance above 3200 kN (UNE EN ISO 12236:2007, as stated on the datasheet). The membrane is watertight at 60 kPa (a 6 m water column, EN 1928).

Static crack-bridging is class A5 at 23 °C and -10 °C, dynamic crack-bridging class B4.2 at -20 °C (EN 1062-7). The reference spray rate is 2 kg/m². How bridge-deck membranes are assessed is covered in our ETAG 033 bridge deck article.

04 · Performance

Impermax Polyurea H Flex performance

According to the datasheet, the membrane has a hardness of 90A/40D (ISO 868), tensile strength of 15 MPa and elongation at break of 400% (EN-ISO 527-3), and tear strength of 43 N/mm (ISO 34-1).

Combined with its ETA for bridge decks, its low liquid water permeability and its dynamic crack-bridging at -20 °C, this is the Impermax membrane to look at when the structure moves and traffic loads are involved.

Application data

  • Mix ratio: A=1, B=1.08 by weight; A=1, B=1 by volume
  • Gel time (A+B, 20 g): 8–9 s at 25 °C, 4–6 s at 60 °C
  • Recommended temperatures: component A 70 °C, component B 70 °C, hose 65 °C
  • Spray pressure: at least 135–170 bar
  • Reference spray rate: 2 kg/m²
  • Return to service (25 °C, 50% RH): rain-resistant after 15 min, light foot traffic after 1 h

05 · FAQ

Impermax Polyurea H Flex: frequently asked questions

Yes. It holds ETA 21/0740 (EAD 030675-00-0107) with CE marking, plus Belgian ATG 3247, both for bridge-deck waterproofing.

Static class A5 at 23 °C and -10 °C, and dynamic class B4.2 at -20 °C, tested to EN 1062-7.

At 25 °C and 50% RH it resists rain after 15 minutes and light foot traffic after 1 hour.
