01 · Project overview

What is this project?

In 2019, the car-park deck at chapa galvanizada was made with Impermax Polyurea H Flex. The Balearic sun and the salt in the air are the two things a finish has to live with, every season.

This one is a car-park deck.

Impermax Polyurea H Flex is the spray coat on this roof, so the field and the details are one film.

Krypton Chemical makes the resin. The crew on site applies it. On chapa galvanizada the details have to get the same film as the open field, and the cure has to finish before the building goes back to work.

02 · The challenge

What did this structure ask of the system?

A car park deck takes wheels, oil and water together. Turning on a ramp shears a coating that is only painted on. Joints between bays move every day.

chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck has to bridge that movement, and the drain has to be inside the film. A drain cut through afterwards is a hole.

03 · The solution

Which system was trusted here?

The system trusted here is the one named for the job: Impermax Polyurea H Flex. It is chosen because it matches the substrate and the exposure, not because every building wants the same can.

The build-up is there to survive the exposure this structure actually has, including the lines where workmanship usually goes thin.

04 · Application

How is the system built?

The products named for chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck are applied as one build-up, details before the field. Outlets, edges and changes of plane are closed first, with the same materials as the main area. A system that changes product at the difficult line is a system with a future peel.

The line is Impermax Polyurea H Flex. The deck is dry, the temperature is inside the range that product allows, and the next coat follows while the window is open. Leaving a detail for the following week is how these jobs come back.

On chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck the deck carries cars, not footsteps. Turning wheels shear a coating that is only stuck, not built. Ramps are worse than flat bays. Joints between decks move, and the membrane either bridges them or the joint is detailed as a joint, on purpose.

Water on a car park brings oil and, in winter, salt. The film has to live with both. Drains are inside the system. A drain that is cut through the membrane after the fact is a hole, whatever the grate looks like.

An exposed deck also takes the sun. An aromatic membrane keeps its strength and loses its colour. Where the deck is open to the sky, a topcoat is part of the build-up, not a decoration.

05 · Results

What does a job like this stand behind?

chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck has one standard. The coating is still doing its job after the building is back in use, at the details as well as in the middle.

Figures for cure, thickness and strength, where they are given, come from the product data sheets. They are not a test cut out of this building.

What this asks of chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck is workmanship at the difficult line. The open field is the easy part of a resin job. Outlets, edges, penetrations and changes of plane are where thickness goes missing, and where water or wear finds the gap. The same products and the same care belong there, and the cure is allowed to finish before the building goes back into use. That is the difference between a coating that was simply applied and a system that stays in service.

Frequently asked questions

Where is this project?

chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck. España – Baleares

When was the work done?

2019.

Which products were used?

Impermax Polyurea H Flex.

Why are the details done first?

Outlets, upstands and joints are where water gets in. They are closed with the same system as the main area.

Where do the cure times come from?

From the product data sheet. They describe the resin, not a clock stopped on this site.

The programme does not change because the building is smaller or further away. Prepare the substrate until it will hold the system, close the details before the field, and keep the thickness honest at every edge. A second visit to repair a starved detail costs more than doing that detail on the first day. chapa galvanizada: A car-park deck is held to that standard. Krypton Chemical supplies the resin. The applicator owns the surface.
